The objective of this demonstration project is to develop an advanced control system empowers to take advantages of solar system, electric vehicle, storage system, and hybrid HVAC system. In the HVAC system section, a combination of mCHP, Heat pump, and back up mini-boiler will be used. Different use cases will be applied using cloud computing/API platforms to evaluate the effectiveness of this type of smart homes in supporting the utilities and reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions.
The scope of this M&V project is to implement the required test platform in 7 pilot homes. These homes are chosen in Markham Ontario and will examine the effectiveness of the advanced control system under different occupant behaviors and energy-use patterns.
