Hydronic System with Air Handler Monitoring and Validation Project

More cost-saving. Less greenhouse emission.

Description

The objective of this M&V project is to calculate the duct sizing, home thermal load calculation (using TRNSYS software), and validate the effectiveness of iFlow hydronic (zoning) system in terms of energy demand/cost savings at two residential homes located in Ontario. The results of this project would leverage Enbridge to support its energy conservation strategy planning by overhauling the energy use in the residential space heating and Domestic Hot Water (DHW) systems.

Scope

The scope of this M&V project is to implement the required test platform in two pilot’ homes. These homes are chosen in different locations in Ontario and will examine the effectiveness of the iFlow hydronic (zoning) system under different occupant behaviors and energy-use patterns. To this end, an online monitoring system is installed to measure different parameters of the HVAC system. In order to make more diversity, participating homes are selected based on various sizes and thermal characteristics.
